A routine well-being check at an Auburn gas station has led to the unraveling of a multi-county drug operation, culminating in multiple felony charges for a Glasgow man and a broader ongoing investigation.
Jeremy Green, of Glasgow, was arrested April 3 following an encounter with law enforcement at Casey’s Gas Station in Auburn, according to an arrest citation filed by Adairville Police Chief Aaron Ashby.
Officers first made contact with Green around 7:47 p.m. after observing him pacing between a vehicle and the store. Ashby and Auburn Police Officer Charles Wethington approached the scene, where Ashby reported noticing an open alcoholic beverage inside Green’s vehicle.
A records check soon revealed Green was operating the vehicle on a license suspended due to a prior DUI. Following his arrest, officers conducted a search of the vehicle, recovering $1,010 in small denominations and three iPhones.
What began as a routine arrest quickly expanded.
At the Logan County Detention Center, officers observed one of the seized phones receive a lock-screen notification displaying an image of marijuana accompanied by a caption referencing its quality. Investigators later obtained a search warrant for the devices, leading them to encrypted communications on the messaging application Signal.
According to authorities, messages between Green and Auburn resident Jordan Bailey detailed a transaction involving approximately a quarter pound of marijuana in exchange for $925.
During a subsequent interview, Green allegedly admitted to delivering marijuana to Bailey’s residence on Howlett Drive in Auburn, stating that Bailey contacted him on a weekly basis to purchase marijuana for resale within Logan County.
On April 4, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Bailey’s residence, located at 220 Howlett Drive. Officers reported seizing a large quantity of marijuana, cocaine and an additional unidentified substance, along with significant amounts of U.S. currency, drug paraphernalia and multiple firearms.
Authorities also searched Green’s residence in Glasgow, where they reported finding several additional pounds of marijuana and more than 75 illegal THC vape pens.
The investigation, dubbed “Operation Easter Basket,” involved coordination between multiple agencies, including the Adairville Police Department, Auburn Police Department and Glasgow Police Department. Participating officers included Adairville Sgt. Ryan Brown; Auburn Police Chief BJ Ferguson; Auburn officers Caleb Rogers and Zachary Morris; Glasgow Police Sgt. Wethington; and K-9 Officer John DuBarry. K-9 units were not deployed during the operation.
Ashby credited the collaboration between agencies for the operation’s success, while also expressing concern over the conditions uncovered during the investigation.
“Operation Easter Basket shows small departments like Adairville and Auburn can dismantle trafficking networks by working together with Glasgow,” Ashby said. “The most disturbing part was the drug environment. Discovering cocaine and marijuana in a home with three children is unacceptable. We prioritize the safety of the community’s youth. We will pursue those who endanger families until they are behind bars.”
Green is facing multiple charges in Logan County, including trafficking in marijuana over five pounds (multiple counts), trafficking in marijuana between eight ounces and less than five pounds (second or subsequent offense), driving on a DUI-suspended license, possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. Additional charges are expected in Barren County.
Bailey is charged in Logan County with first-degree wanton endangerment related to the presence of three juveniles in the home, possession of a controlled substance (cocaine), possession of a controlled substance (unspecified), trafficking in marijuana between eight ounces and less than five pounds (first offense), and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Additional charges are anticipated as “Operation Easter Basket” continues, according to police.
