Nancy Ann Cornwell, Glasgow

Nancy Ann Landrum Cornwell, 84, passed away on March 25, 2026, at Shanti Niketan Hospice Home in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was born to the late Lewis Howard Landrum and Alta Marie Gumm Landrum. She graduated from Gamaliel High School in 1959. She graduated with her Master’s and Rank I in Education from Western Kentucky University.

Nancy married her beloved high school sweetheart, Clovis Joe Cornwell, in 1963. Nancy enjoyed serving her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She initially was a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Church, where she taught the youth girls’ Sunday School Class, and later joined Fountain Run First Baptist Church, where she served as the adult women’s Sunday School Class Teacher for several years.

Nancy taught Typing and Math at Austin Tracy High School. Later, she became the Guidance Counselor at Austin Tracy and Park City Elementary. She retired after 28 years in the Barren County School System. Nancy (Mrs. Cornwell to many) had a special love, concern, and interest in all of her students. She enjoyed the friendship through the years with many of her former students and fellow teachers. She loved her family and friends. She was a loving, encouraging, and supportive mother to her daughter, Nancy Jo Houchens. One of her favorite roles was being Nana to her granddaughter, Kaemyn, whom she was so proud of. Nancy has one loving sister, Brenda Johnson, whom she enjoyed spending time with and discussing Kentucky Basketball and the New York Yankees. She was blessed with several special sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She enjoyed keeping up with her many nieces and nephews.

Nancy is survived by daughter and son in law Nancy Jo and Tony Houchens of Glasgow, Kentucky; granddaughter, Kaemyn Houchens (Jackson Mutter) of Glasgow, KY; sister Brenda Johnson of Glasgow, KY; sisters-in-law: Marie Solomon of Glasgow, KY; Glenith Morrison and husband Bobby Wayne of Fountain Run, KY; Betty Crabtree and husband Jerry of Hendersonville, TN; and Becky Pitcock of Fountain Run, KY; several nieces and nephews, and special family friend Martha Gayle Gentry, as well as JoAnn Hughes and Anita McIntyre.

Nancy is preceded in death by husband Joe Cornwell, brother-in-law Leroy Johnson, sisters-in-law: Lee Hughes Maine, Emma Welch, and Brenda Oliver; brothers-in-law: Bob Maine, Larry Pitcock, Billy Welch, Dave Solomon, and Clifford “Tip” Oliver.

Funeral Services will be held at Hatcher & Saddler Funeral Home in Glasgow on Saturday, March 28, at 2 pm with Bro. Robbie Perkins and Bro. Eric Copass officiating. Burial will follow at the Fountain Run Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, March 27, from 4-8 pm, and Saturday from 8 am until the time of the service at 2 pm.  Alternate expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Fountain Run First Baptist Church or to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home.
