Barren fiscal court to approve road invoices, acknowledge library audit

Barren County Fiscal Court magistrates have a full agenda for their 9 a.m. meeting on March 17.

After the usual department and committee reports, the seven county magistrates plan to acknowledge receipt of the Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library audit, which was free of major errors and presented fairly the “financial position of the Barren County Public Library,” according to the report compiled by Campbells, Myers and Rutledge.

Magistrate are also expected to consider approving to invoices from Bluegrass and Associates for work on Oil Well and Ritters Mill roads. The amounts are $199,000 and $691,500 respectively, and both are being reimbursed through the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to Barren County Deputy Judge-Executive Garland Gilliam.

The court is also set to take up the first reading of Ordinance 703, described as a budget amendment for the 2025-2026 fiscal year,  to acknowledge receipt of the proposed jail fund budget for the 2026-2027 fiscal year and a public hearing on the proposed discontinuance of State Quarry Road.

April 7 is the next Barren County Fiscal Court meeting.
