RECAP: Trojanettes roll over Logan, 71-44

Barren County started hot from the floor Sunday night in their first game of the Girls Fourth Region Tournament.

The Trojanettes outscored Logan County, 14-2, through the first five minutes at Diddle Arena and cruised to a 71-44 win. The victory punches their ticket to the semifinals of the tournament Friday at 6:30 p.m. against Monroe County. The Lady Falcons beat Bowling Green, 45-40, in Sunday’s first game.

During that 14-2 run, Ann Ashley Atkinson, Shelby Byrd and Addyson McFall all buried 3-pointers. Barren finished the game 10-of-23 (43.5 percent) from behind the arc, and 26-of 49 (53.1 percent) overall in field goals.

The Trojanettes capped their scoring in the first quarter with a steal and layup by Byrd. Barren County finished the game with 27 points off turnovers.

The lead was 40-19 by halftime, and 58-29 after three quarters.

Byrd led four Trojanettes in double figures with 15 points. McFall added 14, Atkinson and Layla Harris each scored 12.

Brenley Addler led Logan with 23 points.

Barren improved to 30-2 overall, while the Lady Cougars finished their season at 17-16.
