A night after winning on a buzzer-beater, Barren County lost to Taylor County on a last-second shot.
The Trojans led most of the game, but the Cardinals closedon a 7-0 run to win, 69-67.
Weston Shelton posted a big night for Barren with 28 points, while Kade Hardy added 17. Cameron Pippen, who is the Trojans’ fourth-leading scorer, did not play in the second half after being injured right before halftime.
Barren jumped ahead 26-15 in the first quarter. The lead was seven points at halftime, 40-33.
Taylor County rallied in the third quarter and posted a 21-13 advantage. That left the Trojans down 54-53 headed into the final period.
With 4:55 to go in the game, Shelton sparked a 6-0 run with a baseline layup. That left the Trojans ahead 66-59 with 3:31 left in the game. The Cardinals scored 10 of the next 11 points in the contest.
