Shirley Delores Bacon

Shirley Delores Bacon, 83, died peacefully in her home in Haywood, Kentucky, on February 17, 2026, from complications of a stroke. She was born on September 17, 1942, in Mount Hermon, Kentucky, and continued to be a lifelong resident of Barren County. She was the daughter of the late Archie and Annie Pearl Garrett.

She was a retired employee of the Glasgow Board of Education Central Office and a member of the Union #2 Missionary Baptist Church. She will be remembered by her friends as someone who loved serving the community with her piano playing. Her neighbors will remember her friendly front porch, where flowers seemed to always bloom and conversations flowed. Her family will remember the many gatherings spent together eating delicious home-cooked food served with a dose of laughter and encouragement.

Survivors include two daughters: Cheryl (Howard) Rogers of Gainesville, Florida and Cindy (Todd) LaFond of Fountain Run, Kentucky; one stepdaughter: Cherolyn (Michael) Stacey of Franklin, Kentucky; five grandchildren: Adam Puckett, Jill Puckett, Jared Puckett, Hannah Rogers, and Lauren Rogers; three step-grandchildren Mollie (Jerred), Caleb, Trevor (Cynthia); and one great grandchild: Jason.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Lee Williams, to whom she was married from 1961-1984. After being widowed, she later remarried to Rollin Bacon (1996-2024). She was also preceded in death by grandson Landon Rogers and brother Mikey Garrett.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 22nd at A.F. Crow and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Glasgow Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Saturday, February 21st at 4:00PM until 8:00PM and Sunday morning until time for service at the funeral home.
