Barren County ran away from Franklin-Simpson beginning in the second quarter Tuesday night en route to a 75-49 win.

The Trojanettes were facing the Lady Wildcats for the second time this season. They lost to them, 49-47, at South Warren on Dec. 29 in a holiday tournament. In that game Barren hit 3 of 17 3-pointers in that game. On Tuesday, the Trojanettes smoked the nets from downtown, hitting 13-of-22 3s.

The Lady Wildcats led 16-14 at the end of the first quarter. The Trojanettes posted a 21-9 rally in the second quarter to lead 35-25 by halftime. The run continued in the third quarter — 23-13 — and Barren led 58-38 after three.

Shelby Byrd led the Trojanettes with 21 points, while Mahalia Burton added 20, and Addy Slagle posted 10 points.

Barren improved to 21-2 with the win. They return to action Saturday night at Allen County-Scottsville in a critical 15th District contest at 6 p.m.
