A revised animal control ordinance, an audit contract and numerous invoices are on the Jan. 20 Barren County Fiscal Court agenda.
The ordinance repeals the current chapter relating to the regulation of animals. It outlines the powers of animal control officers, impoundment procedures and fees, prohibited animals, and violation fees. Ordinance 702- Animal Control Agreement was provided by the Barren County Fiscal Court Clerk Shanda Bradley.
The ordinance is up for approval during the 9 a.m. meeting.
A Carr, Riggs, and Ingram audit contract is also set to be approved by the Barren County Fiscal Court Magistrates. The contract is $88,500 and states Carr, Riggs, and Ingram will “audit the financial statements” for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, according to the contract. The accounting firm will also report on the court’s internal control over financial reporting and compliance, according to the contract.
Several invoices appear on the agenda, including one from the Barren County Economic Service for $60,000 for economic development service between January 2026 and June 2026, and a $230,825 invoice from Intech Contracting for work performed on the Matthews Mill Road bridge.
As previously reported by Glasgow News 1, the Barren County Fiscal Court Magistrates approved Intech Contracting’s bid during the Aug. 5, 2025 meeting. Some of the funding is from the bridge preservation money given to the county in 2025.
