Barren County struggled to score for three quarters in Tompkinsville on Monday night, and lost to Monroe County, 48-42.
The Trojans posted only 21 points through three quarters. The Falcons led 33-21 headed into the final quarter.
Kade Hardy and Weston Shelton both hit 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, and Barren turned a couple of turnovers into baskets. That helped the Trojans to get to within four points late in the game, but Monroe made enough free throws down the stretch to hold onto the win.
Hardy led Barren with 12 points.
The Trojans return to action Tuesday night at Bowling Green at 7:30 p.m.
SCORING
Hardy, 12; Shelton, 8; Jaxson Byrd, 8; Gavin Nunn, 4; Maddox Griggs, 4; Cameron Pippen, 2; Carson Browning, 2; Kataviun Fryar, 2.
