Peggy Claywell, Bon Ayr

Dec 23, 2025 | 2:31 PM

Peggy Claywell, age 80 of Bon Ayr, departed this life with her family by her side on Monday, December 22, 2025 at NHC Healthcare in Glasgow, KY. The Cumberland County native was born on June 26, 1945 to the late Ed and Robbie Scott. She was married to her cherished husband of fifty years, Jimmy Claywell, until he preceded her in death on January 15, 2020.

Peggy retired after many years of dedicated work on the assembly line at Eaton Corporation, a place where her strong work ethic and reliability were well known. Above all else, Peggy was deeply devoted to her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for her children and grandchildren, preparing big, home-cooked meals, and spending treasured time camping together. Quiet moments often found her reading a good book or happily working on word search puzzles. Peggy’s life was also guided by her faith, as she was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her children, Mark Chapman (Beth) of Russellville, Tim Chapman of Bon Ayr, Brian Claywell (M.J.) of Bowling Green and Heather Mattox (Marcus) of Glasgow; grandchildren, Savannah Claywell, Tanner Chapman (Meagan), Kinsley Mattox and Kayson Mattox, and siblings, Jimmy Scott (Wanda) and Betty Sue Claywell (Jimmy).

Funeral services for Peggy Claywell will be held at 11 AM Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Patton Funeral Home Park City Chapel with interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 7 PM Friday and after 9AM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Shanti Niketan Hospice Home,  1020 Glenview Dr., Glasgow, KY 42141.
