Darkness delayed the conclusion of the Barren County versus Allen County-Scottsville girls’ basketball game Thursday night.
The Trojanettes and Lady Patriots had just started the fourth quarter of their key 15th District contest when a storm rolling through the area knocked out power throughout Glasgow and parts of Barren County. It took more than hour for the lights to come back on, and when they did, the Trojanettes concluded knocking out the Lady Patriots, 62-41.
Barren jumped on Allen in the first quarter and led 21-10 after one. The lead ballooned to 38-22 at halftime. The Trojanettes pushed their lead to 50-32 after three quarters, and had the scored the first basket of the final period before the power was knocked out.
Barren used balanced scoring to secure the 21-point win. Shelby Byrd led with 18, while Mahalia Burton, Addy Slagle and Addyson McFall each scored 11 points.
The win improved the Trojanettes to 7-0 overall and 1-0 in district. They are back in action Saturday against Greenbrier, Tenn., at Greenwood High School at 4 p.m.
