Mary Bennett Miller, age 85 of Bowling Green, died Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Hospice House in Bowling Green surrounded by her family. The Hart County native was born on February 19, 1940 to the late William Harv and Iva Mae Logsdon Gipson. She was married to her devoted husband, James Miller, who survives.
Mary had a gift for making people feel valued. She truly never met a stranger; whether someone was a longtime friend or a first-time customer, she greeted everyone with the same genuine warmth. Throughout her years as a waitress in many of the local restaurants, her familiar smile, quick laugh, and heartfelt conversations became something people looked forward to—often as much as the meal itself.
Mary also had a passion for collecting Coca-Cola memorabilia, filling her home with vibrant red treasures that reflected her lively spirit and love of nostalgia. Each piece held a story, and she delighted in sharing them. Her admiration for classic cars was just as deep—she loved their craftsmanship, their history, and the memories they carried from a bygone era.
Besides her husband, James, she is survived her children, Robert Gipson of Bowling Green, Marjorie Deckard (Gary) of Railton, Roy Murphy (Sherry) of Cave City, Michael Gipson (Genene) of Horse Cave and Bonnie Bennett Massey of Cave City; bonus children, Lisa Melton (Harrison) of Somerset, James Miller of Morgantown and Lynn Garrison (C.G.) of Bowling Green; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren; a brother, Harvey Gipson of Horse Cave, and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Troy Jackson and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mary Bennett Miller will be held at 2 PM Monday, December 15, 2025 at Patton Funeral Home Cave City Chapel with interment in Cave City Cemetery. Visitation from 12—7 PM, Sunday and 9 AM—2 PM, Monday at Patton Funeral Home Cave City Chapel.
