Lonnie Therman Skaggs, 82, of Bowling Green, Ke passed peacefully on December 3, 2025 at Greenwood Health and Rehab. He was born on November 14, 1943 in Edmonson County, Kentucky to the late Charlie and Pearl Vincent Skaggs.
Lonnie graduated from Edmonson County High School, sold his cow then moved to California to venture out in the world. He found work as a delivery driver for Hostess Cakes where he found love for Twinkie snack cakes. After living in California for 30 years, Lonnie moved back home to Kentucky where he purchased a country cornerstone in Lindseyville. He owned and operated Lonnie’s Midway for many years, serving people in his community. In 1990, he met his beloved wife, Sue and they dated for 5 years before getting married in the Great Smokey Mountains, they have been side by side since.
In Lonnie’s free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching sports games and supporting the Jets football team and the Yankees baseball team. He was a huge Elvis fan and collected his merchandise, from dolls to music albums. Lonnie was even able to meet Elvis.
Lonnie was strong in his faith and a man of God. He was a member of North Bowling Green Church of God for over 10 years and would attend regularly with his wife, Sue.
Lonnie was known and loved by many. He never met a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back. He was known for his loving, social and funny personality and lite up any room he walked into.
In addition to his parents, Lonnie is preceded in death by his brother, Pat Skaggs; sisters, Pauline Bunch and Mildred; stepson, Jeff Cummings; son, Mick Skaggs and several other siblings.
Surviving Lonnie is his wife of 30 years, Carolyn Sue Skaggs; step-sons, Brain and Mike Cummings; son, Pat Skaggs and brother Fonce Skaggs; several grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Hannah Minton, Summer Cummings, Addison Cummings, Jacob Cuming, Will Cummings, Megan Adams and several others; great granddaughters, Caselyn and Mckenna Adams; several nieces and nephews and by his dog Bandit and special family fried Karen Parker.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Greenwood Health and Rehab for their continued care and amazing support for Lonnie and his family.
The family will accept friends on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 12PM at North Bowling Green Church of God followed by a Memorial Service at 1PM. There will be a lunch afterwards and all are invited to attend to celebrate and remember Lonnie.
