Jimmie Wells, Bowling Green

Jimmie Wells, age 85 of Bowling Green, died Monday, November 10, 2025 at Alive Hospice in Nashville, Tennessee. The Edmonson County native was born on May 9, 1940 to the late Lonnie Mitchell and Virgie Slaughter Wells. He was married to the late Shirley Lucas Wells and Burma Mae Wells.

Jimmie faithfully served his country during the Vietnam War, first as a proud member of the United States Army, where he retired as a crewman. His dedication to service continued when he later enlisted in the United States Air Force, further exemplifying his deep love for his country and commitment to protecting its freedoms. A true patriot, he continued his service to fellow veterans through his involvement with the Nesbit Alexander VFW Post #6937, the Brownsville DAV Chapter #32, and the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #356. Jimmie found his greatest peace in his faith, having been saved at Cedar Springs United Baptist Church, where he remained a member. In his quiet moments, he cherished the simple joys of being outdoors, spending time hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children, Brandon, Chris, Mike, Debbie, Michelle, Billy, Jessie and Melvin; eighteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Thelma Jean; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

Funeral services for Jimmie Wells will be held at 11 AM, Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel with  interment  in the Hawkins Cemetery with graveside military rites by Nesbit Alexander VFW Post# 6937. Visitation from 1 to 7 PM, Thursday, November 13, 2025 and 9—11 AM, Friday, November 14, 2025 at the Patton Funeral Home Brownsville Chapel.
