Kitty Elmina Wheat, 97, of Fountain Run, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Signature HC of Monroe County, Tompkinsville, Kentucky.
Elmina was born in Allen County, Kentucky on March 29, 1928, one of eleven children born to the late Pernie (Wheat) and Joe Rigdon.
She lived in Louisville, Kentucky for many years, working as a dietitian at Wesley Manor Retirement Home for over 25 years, loved to cook, and spent time with her family and her Louisville girlfriends. She was saved by grace February 29, 2004 and baptized into the Capitol Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Elmina is survived by a daughter, Patty Blevins and husband Dale Blevins, of Fountain Run; granddaughter, Shannon Shipwash and husband Jason Shipwash; great-grandson, Ryan Johnston & Kaitlyn; great-granddaughter, Lexie Johnston; 3 bonus granddaughters, Alexis and Jenna Shipwash and Kaitlynn and many nieces, nephews and friends..
Her parents, Joe and Pernie Rigdon, 4 brothers and 5 sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held 1 PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at Fountain Run Funeral Home with burial in the Wood Cemetery, Capitol Hill Road in Fountain Run,. Brothers Terry Mahaney and Ricky Huff will officiate.
Visitation will be held 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, November 11 and 10 AM to 1 PM on Wednesday, November 12 at the funeral home.
Memorial donations requested to the Wood Cemetery or Capitol Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
