Barren County grand jury indicts Houchens, House, Green, Sexton

Several cases of note were included in this round of Barren County grand jury indictments.

Wesley Houchens’ indictment included one second-degree assault count, two first-degree strangulation counts — one domestic violence related and the other not domestic violence related — three first-degree wanton endangerment counts — all caused by a discharge of a firearm — a fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) count, a fourth-degree assault (domestic violence, minor injury) count and a count for resisting arrest.

The 36-year-old was arrested on July 25 by Barren County sheriff’s deputies. He was arrested at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

Michael House was also indicted. He was indicted on 12 counts, including three third-degree assault charges on a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of methamphetamine. House was arrested on July 30 during a traffic stop on East Cherry Street in Glasgow while spitting on police officers and threatening to kill them, according to prior reporting.

The Sept. 17 indictments also include those of Shawn Green Jr. and Barry Sexton.

Green from Bowling Green was arrested after setting off fireworks inside a residence on Village Circle. The 19-year-old was indicted on third-degree assault, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment and a first-degree criminal mischief count.

Nineteen-year-old Barry Sexton was indicted on a second-degree assault charge and for leaving the scene when his vehicle crashed on Matthews Mill Road severely injuring his passenger, who had to be extracted from the vehicle and taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and later flown to Skyline Medical Center in Tennessee due to her injuries.
