Barren County exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to drive toward a 15-4 win over Lexington Catholic in Tampa, Florida.
The Trojans led 6-01 headed into the fourth. Axel Dysholm led off and was hit by a pitch. Gavin Coffey followed with a single. Dysholm was thrown out at third on a bunt by Aiden Keeney. The second out of the inning came when Coffey was caught stealing.
Price Thompson singled with Keaton Haynes on first running for Keeney. Jordan Harris followed and was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Jax Vincent reached base on an error, which allowed Thompson and Haynes to score. Harris moved to third, and Vincent reached second on the error.
JP Hyde followed with a double that drove in Harris and Vincent. Jackson Reece drove in JP Hyde with a single. Sutton Hyde drew a walk, Dysholm was hit by a pitch, and Skylar Potter reached base on a dropped third strike. Reece scored on the dropped third strike.
With the bases still loaded, Keeney drew a walk and scored Sutton Hyde. Thompson next drove in Potter and Dysholm with a single to end the 9-0 run.
Lexington Catholic posted three runs in the top of the fifth, but could not hold off the end of the game due to a 10-run mercy rule.
The Trojans posted 11 hits in the game as a team. JP Hyde and Reece each had three hits and they both scored three runs. JP Hyde also drove in four runs.
Thompson posted two hits, Vincent had one hit, and Dysholm and Coffey each finished with a hit.
Cameron Crawford started n the mound. He gave up 10 hits, but also struck out five. Colten Wilson closed the game and gave up no hits and struck out two.
