Barren County bounced back from its season-opening loss with a 9-6 win at Bowling Green in extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, Jackson Reece opened with a single to center field. Gavin Coffey followed with a line drive to center field. Landon Uhles dropped a sacrifice bunt to advance Reece and Coffey a base each.
JP Hyde was walked intentionally with one out to load the bases. Reece scored to break the 6-6 tie on a fielder’s choice ball hit by Jaxon Vincent. Axel Dysholm drew a walk to reload the bases.
Sutton Hyde followed with a double that drove home Coffey and Vincent. Dysholhm was thrown out at home to end the top of the inning. Barren led Bowling Green, 9-6.
Sutton Hyde closed the door on the mound. After a ground out, he struck out the next two batters to end the game.
He also had a big day at the plate with three hits, 5 RBIs and he scored two runs.
Colten Wilson, who started, and Cameron Crawford each also saw time on the mound.
