For the rest of this week, the Trojan Academy will have several tables set up in their front lobby, each representing a different culture.

Barren County Youth Service Center Coordinator Shelly Thomas said this is the second year of this cultural fair that aims to expose students to cultures outside their own.

The idea began during the 2023-24 school year when then senior Janiyah Vega Perez suggested the idea as a way to dispel cultural prejudices and biases.

Thomas said even though Perez has graduated and now attends the University of Kentucky, she is still very involved in the event.

She said this cultural fair is Perez’s “indelible mark” on the Trojan Academy.

The tables are adorned with items supplied by students and staff. Countries represented include Denmark, China, the U.S., India, Italy, Myanmar, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Micronesia, Haiti, Guatemala, Scotland, Ireland, Honduras, Germany, and Brazil are represented at the Trojan Academy.
