Aug 13, 2024 | 8:17 AM

A Gainesville, Tennessee man was arrested early on the morning of August 13 in Gorin Park, Glasgow, after police discovered him in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded handgun. The arrest also involved charges related to an unlawful transaction with a minor.

According to a media release from the Glasgow Police Department, officers responded to a parked vehicle inside Gorin Park at approximately 12:30 a.m. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers detected a strong odor of marijuana emanating from inside. The vehicle was occupied by a male suspect, later identified as Andrew Chattin Moore, and a female juvenile.

During the search of the vehicle, police found marijuana in the ashtray, drug paraphernalia in the center console, and a loaded handgun inside a backpack. Upon further investigation, officers confirmed that Moore, a convicted felon, had arranged to meet the female juvenile in the park and had provided her with marijuana.

Andrew Chattin Moore was taken into custody and faces several serious charges, including Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Transaction with a Minor in the 2nd Degree, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Public Intoxication related to a controlled substance (excluding alcohol).

The arrest was made by Officer Jeffery Childress of the Glasgow Police Department, who led the response and subsequent investigation.

This incident is a reminder of the persistent risks associated with drug-related offenses, particularly when they involve vulnerable populations like minors.
