James “White Owl” Pruitt

Jul 17, 2024 | 2:57 PM

James “White Owl” Pruitt, 80, Camby, passed away peacefully at his home on June 19, 2024. He was born November 19, 1943, in Burkesville, Kentucky, to the late Andy Burr and Willie (Jones) Pruitt.

After he moved to Indiana, White Owl took a job with Citizens Gas as a lineman. He continued his empowerment with the gas company for 35 years, retiring as a field coordinator. An avid outdoorsman, White Owl was happiest when hunting or fishing. He loved fishing at Dale Hollow and Patoka the most but was content wherever they were biting. He enjoyed racing stock cars in his earlier years, and for that matter, enjoyed anything that went fast. If you were a friend of White Owl’s, you were a friend for life. A man of routine, you could always find him having breakfast at Morgan’s with his cronies. He will be fondly remembered for his loyalty to his family and his many friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold, and Richard Pruitt.

Survivors include one son, Dwayne (Lori) Pruitt of Mooresville; siblings, Ruby Nell Key of Burkesville, Kentucky, Elmer Glenn “Buddy” Pruitt of Indianapolis, Paul (Debra) Pruitt of Mooresville, and Vickie Pruitt of Burkesville, Kentucky; grandchildren, Luke James Pruitt and Kelsey Lynn (Ryan) Wells; one great-grandchild, Wrenley Wells.

Graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. at the Kettle Government Cemetery.  Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home in charge of arrangements
