Barren Countians who cannot vote either during the no-excuse early voting at the UK Extension Office or during the 12-hour window on Nov. 5 have the opportunity to cast their ballot early at the Barren County Clerk’s Office on the north side of the Glasgow Public Square if they meet at least one of the 12 excuses acceptable by Kentucky law.

All in all, there are 12 excuses listed on the county clerk’s website and a person wishing to vote early must meet at least one of those criteria. Some excuses include if “a person who due to age, disability, or illness will be unable to go to the polls,” if a voter — be they a student or not — will be outside the county on election day, an overseas or “confined to base” member of the military or a “woman in her last trimester of pregnancy.”

In order to cast your ballot, a person will need their driver’s license or government-issued identification card.

Early excused voting will be available to Barren Countians from Oct. 23-25 and from Oct. 28-30.

Pat Scott, a member of the Barren County Board of Elections, said she had, at roughly 2 p.m. Oct. 23, already given out a few short of 50 ballots the “most early voting since 2020” she has seen.
