Alta Marie Brooks, 86, of Brownsville passed away July 17, 2024, at Edmonson Center.
She was the daughter of the late Valentine Willis and Bertha Vincent. She was preceded in death by her husband, Berthal Brooks; three brothers, Alvie Childress, Gordon Willis, and Roy Willis; and a sister, Gertrude Childress.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Gravil Funeral Home with burial to follow in Cove Hollow Cemetery. Visitation will take place 4-8 PM Saturday at Gravil Funeral Home.
Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Willis (Domingo Lara) and Melinda VanMeter both of Brownsville; seven grandchildren, Dominick Willis, Charity Richardson, April Blair, Leatrice Butts, Steven Willis, Jacob VanMeter, and Lauren VanMeter; eleven great grandchildren; and her “favorite” Roger Stevenson.
