Lawrence Randall Curtis, 92, of Tompkinsville, KY passed away Monday, July 15th, at Signature Healthcare of Monroe County .
Randall was born in Tompkinsville, Ky on March 24, 1932, a son of the late Flora Mae (Bartley) and Vernie Curtis.
On August 17, 1957, he married Ruth Ann Head in Overton County, TN. They were married 65 years.
From an early age Randall worked on the family farm. Whether it was working in tobacco or tending the cattle, you could not find a harder worker.
One of his proudest accomplishments was serving as Monroe County Sheriff from 1982 to 1986.
He was a Democrat Election Officer. From late 1970’s to early 1980’s he held the office of Monroe County Democratic Chairman.
There was nothing Randall enjoyed more than mowing his lawn with precision and care, always ensuring that it was perfectly manicured.
He LOVED his cats Tucker, Tom and Whisker.
Randall was a member of the Tompkinsville Church of Christ.
He is survived by a brother Jacob (Charlene) Curtis, sister Tildon Murphy, sisters-in-law Jessie Pearl Curtis and Golda Hall, brother-in-law Philip (Linda) Pitcock, Nephews and Nieces: Tommy (Vera) Curtis, Randy (Candie) Curtis, Christopher (Nikki) Curtis, Dennis (Beth) Curtis, Jackie (Teresa) Sheffield, Danetta (Stevie Joe) Wilson, Bronson (Rhonda) Pitcock, Brandon (Julie) Pitcock, Bridget (Meg) Pitcock, Wesley Pitcock, Amanda Hutcherson, Loretta Carpenter, Lisa Cawthorn, Pattie (David) Moore and Terry Hall. He is also survived by a host of great and great great nieces and nephews along with a special little buddy Trace Pickerell.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers Ralph, Leroy and Duane, nephew Jackie and niece Renee.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Wednesday, July 17th at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY with John Oscathorp officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Lawn.
Visitation will be 4 PM to 8 PM on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Yokley Trible Funeral Home and on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, 8 AM until time of service.
