Robert Joseph “Bob” Carson, age 104, of Bowling Green, KY, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 8, 2024 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky.
Bob was born May 17, 1920, in Bowling Green, KY to the late Marvin Henry Carson and the late Nellie Igleheart Carson. He is also preceded in death by his wife Viola Maxine Creery Carson of sixty-seven years, three sisters, Louise Thomas, Elsie Carson and Mildred Hyde, and two late brothers, Johnny Carson and Melvin Carson.
He is survived by his three sons, Marvin Carson (Milinda), Robert M. “Bob” Carson (Debbie) and Barry Carson (Laura); nine grandchildren, Brian Carson (Shana), Kevin Carson (Kelly), Craig Carson (Karla), Julia Hiltibidal (Eric), Marci Stewart (Josh), Michelle Hawes (Jeff), Keith Carson (Megan), Kent Carson (Suzie), Kurt Carson (Maura); twenty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Bob was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church for over seventy-four years where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday School for over 60 years. His love for his family was only secondary to his love for the Lord, passing on that legacy. Bob also had a great love for the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. As a World War II veteran, he served in the United States Army. He worked as an insurance agent for over 30 years and retired from Commonwealth Life Insurance Company.
Funeral services will be Friday, July 12, 2024, at 10:30am at Grace Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Bowling Green Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin Thursday, July 11, 2024, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Grace Baptist Church and again on Friday, at 9:00am until time of service at 10:30am at the church.
The family has entrusted J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Grace Baptist Church.
