June 20, 2024 – Barren County High School’s Beta Club brought home multiple honors from the National Beta Convention this week in Savannah, Georgia. Students competed in a wide range of competitions which included arts & humanities, academics, and leadership. Grant Harper was elected National Senior Beta President, and the following students placed in their competitions:

BCHS Beta Sponsor Stephanie Esters commented, “I am so proud of not only the awards but how these students conducted themselves and supported one another. All of our test-takers placed in the top 10 nationally, a first for our school. Several other group and individual events also placed. Furthermore, as the Kentucky State Beta Sponsor, I am excited to serve alongside Grant Harper as Kentucky Senior Beta President next year and to support him as the newly-elected National Beta President. The other sponsors and I are beyond thrilled and can’t wait to celebrate this amazing group of Beta students.”
Newly elected National President Grant Harper responded, “I am super excited to embark on the journey as National Beta President! This has been in the works ever since I joined this organization back in 4th grade. I met so many young leaders from across the nation, and I can’t wait to serve them in this position. I’d like to give a huge shoutout to Barren County Schools and to our amazing community for all the support and opportunities within and outside of Beta Club.”
Grant’s duties as president will include presiding over and addressing members in group sessions at the National Senior Beta Convention and representing National Beta at various state conventions.
Incoming Barren County School Superintendent Amy Irwin expressed her support, “We have a fantastic group of Beta sponsors and students who are dedicated to community service, academic excellence, and leadership. We love to see them shine at conventions, and we are proud of their servant leadership within our school community.”
