Joyce Bonta Simpson

Joyce Bonta Simpson of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late William Clarence Bonta and Stella Pauline Wright Bonta, was born on Friday, July 23, 1937, in Green County and departed this life on Friday, June 14, 2024, at her home. She was 86 years, 10 months, and 22 days of age.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Methodist Church. She was retired from Fruit of the Loom, Inc. and then was a babysitter and the best Nana.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Billy D. Simpson on March 9, 2020, having united in marriage on January 23, 1955.

Survivors include a daughter: Gail Simpson of Greensburg; daughter-in-law: Lana Simpson of Greensburg; four grandchildren and their spouses: Tiffany and Jonathan Meadows, Samantha and Brian Morgan, Becky and Jeremy Benningfield, and C.J. and Derek Yates all of Green County; eight great-grandchildren: Abrie, Liam, and Damien Meadows, Kimber Morgan, Barrett and Steyr Benningfield, and Abby and Ruger Yates; a sister: Suvada Arnettt of Green County; two brothers: Wilburn Bonta and wife, Connie, and Winfred Bonta all of Green County; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Homer Simpson and wife, Brenda and Alicia Bonta all of Green County; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Simpson was also preceded in death by a son: Tim Simpson; grandchild: Barrett Simpson; great-grandchild: Braiden Meadows; a brother and sister: Bill Bonta and Marilyn Simpson; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Bobby Arnett and Dorothy Bonta.

The funeral services for Joyce Bonta Simpson will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Central Time, Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg with burial to follow in the Green County Memory Gardens. Bro. Jonathan Meadows, James Bonta, Bro. Wilburn Bonta, and Bro. Troy Arnett officiating.

Visitation is requested from 4 P.M. until 8 P.M., Central Time, Monday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and after 7 A.M., Tuesday until time of the funeral service.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Norton Children’s Hospital, or Kosair Children’s Charities which can be made at the funeral home.
