On June 6th, the community of Glasgow gathered in a heartfelt remembrance ceremony at the Veteran’s Wall Monument on Glasgow Square, marking the 80th anniversary of D-Day. The event drew a large crowd of residents and local leaders, united in honoring the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers who fought during World War II.

The ceremony featured poignant speeches from Glasgow Mayor Henry Royse, state representative Steve Riley, and Matt Mutter, chairman of the Barren County Veterans Association. Each speaker highlighted the importance of remembering the valor and dedication of the veterans who participated in the historic Normandy landings on June 6, 1944.

State representative Steve Riley echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the enduring importance of paying tribute to those who served.

Matt Mutter, chairman of the Barren County Veterans Association, concluded the speeches by highlighting the importance of supporting veterans within the community.

The ceremony, lasting around 30 minutes, was marked by a solemn atmosphere, underscored by the community’s outpouring of support.

Attendees stood in silence, reflecting on the sacrifices made by those who served, while the presence of veterans added a deeply personal dimension to the event.
