Terry Lane VanMeter, age 69, of Leitchfield, KY, passed away Saturday, (December 9, 2023) peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He was born on November 16, 1954 in Leitchfield, KY, the son of the late Doyle and Margerie Whitman VanMeter.
He was saved on August 27, 1967 at Antioch General Baptist Church.
Terry was a farmer and factory worker until he retired from AGC Automotive Americas. His love for God touched many lives through his singing. He sang Bass for Resurrection Bound for 17 years. He attended Belmont General Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Burnette Kerr VanMeter of Leitchfield; daughter, Felicia Michele Higdon (Keith) of Clarkson, KY; son, William Alexander VanMeter of Leitchfield; two grandsons, Devin Michael VanMeter (Tiffany) of Clarkson and Tyler Alexander VanMeter of Leitchfield; two great-granddaughters, Dallas Grace and Viola Ray VanMeter; four sisters, Elizabeth Ann Kipper of Charlotte, NC, Louise VanMeter, Judy Lush, and Joyce Embry (Rick) all of Leitchfield. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Milburn Ray VanMeter and brother-in-law, Charlie Kipper.
In keeping with his wishes cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, (December 20, 2023) at the Dermitt Funeral Home in Leitchfield. Bro. Buddy Brooks and Bro. T.J Howard will be officiating.
Visitation will be at the Dermitt Funeral Home from 12:00 on Wednesday until time of services.
