Bowling Green Police Investigate Car Jacking on Thursday

Aug 10, 2023 | 1:38 PM

BOWLING GREEN – On Thursday, Bowling Green Police began an investigation into a carjacking that happened on Porter Pike in Bowling Green on Wednesday night.

Police responded to a report of a subject with a weapon, and while they were on their way to the scene, dispatch advised them that the subject with a weapon had carjacked someone in the parking lot of Rivendell.

During the investigation, the victim, Whitney Stephens of Glasgow, told police she was in her vehicle about to leave work when a male walked up, pointed a gun at her, and ordered her out of the vehicle. The subject then drove Stephens’ car out of the parking lot onto McFaddin Station Street and was traveling in the direction of the Corvette Museum.

Rivendell employees told police that the building’s cameras do not cover the area of the parking lot where the incident occurred, but police were able to use video from Huck’s on Corvette Drive to determine that the vehicle traveled toward the I-65 entrance ramps.

Officers notified surrounding agencies to be on the lookout for the vehicle. The car is described as a silver 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, with Kentucky plates and a dent on the back passenger side.

No injuries were reported from this incident.
