GLASGOW — A man charged in connection to the murder of a Scottsville man was released from jail on Wednesday.
James E. Campbell, 46, was jailed on the night of Feb. 10 after Roger Noland, 35, was shot at 1414 North Race Street near a physical therapy office. He was charged with two counts of wanton endangerment and one count of murder. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Feb. 13.
Campbell was released from jail with strict house arrest orders, according to the conditions of release and judicial decision obtained by WCLU News. The conditions include curfew monitoring, a prohibition against possessing weapons and the use of alcohol and drugs. An ankle monitor was placed on Campbell before he was released.
After Campbell pleaded not guilty, he was required to attend a show-cause hearing. Judge Gabe Pendleton sent his case to a grand jury after finding there was sufficient evidence against him in the case. A recent batch of indictments returned from the latest grand jury meeting in Barren County did not include Campbell’s case. Jurors could be presented with the evidence at another grand jury meeting.
The conditions of release also call for no contact with Campbell’s ex-wife, mandated court appearances and no new arrests.
Campbell was released from the Barren County jail on a $500,000 unsecured bond. His attorney is Johnny Bell.
