Paul Randell Dunbar

Paul Randell Dunbar, age 89 of Gainesville, Florida passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2022. A native of Jamestown, Kentucky he was born March 13, 1933 the son of the late Samuel and Verta Lela Dunbar.

Paul graduated from Temple Hill High School in 1953 in Temple Hill, Kentucky. Right out of high school, he joined the United States Navy and served until October 3, 1957. When he got out of the United States Navy, he joined the Glasgow Police Department. In 1968, he moved from Glasgow, Kentucky to Gainesville, Florida and joined the Gainesville Police Department where he retired after 30 years as a lieutenant. He was a faithful member of North Central Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Joe (Barbara) Dunbar and Carl (Ann) Dunbar, his sister-in-law: Jean Dunbar; a nephew Gary Jo Dunbar; and a niece Debbie Toms.

Paul is survived by his brothers: Ralph and Lyle (Nora) Dunbar; his sisters: Arlene (Cecil) Bertram and Ruth Ann (Walter) Clark; 18 nieces and nephews; and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral service was held on Monday, January 9th in Hopkinsville, Ky with burial in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville. A.F. Crow & Son Funeral Home assist the family with arrangements.
