Officials warn of road conditions, dangerous temperatures

Dec 23, 2022 | 7:09 AM

GLASGOW – Barren County Judge/Executive Micheal Hale said Friday morning, “If you don’t have to be out, don’t be out.”

Hale said county road crews worked through Thursday’s rain and blowing snow to get as much material down as possible. A majority of roads are still slick and snow-covered Friday morning.

Kentucky State Police Post 3 Tropper Daniel Priddy says they have worked multiple collisions and slide-offs on Interstate – 65 through the night. “Please do not travel unless absolutely necessary.”

According to the Farmers RECC website around 7 a.m. Friday morning there are about 194 customers in Barren County without power.

Today it is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 8°. Winds could gust as high as 31 mph resulting in wind chill values as low as -25°.

“Check on your pets, make sure that they’re doing well. Bring them in if you have to,” said Hale, “I just encourage folks to stay home if you have to.”

If you have an emergency call 911. Do not call 911 for non-emergencies – the non-emergency line for Barren County is (270) 651-1175.

You can reach the Barren County transportation department at (270) 678-2832.
