GLASGOW — A Tuesday morning fire along Grandview Avenue is under investigation after a suspected arson.

Units from the Glasgow Fire Department were on scene of the structure fire shortly after 6 a.m. It was reported at 633 Grandview Ave. Dispatch alerted fire crews the structure was abandoned.

The Veterinary Medical Center nearby owns the property, and was using the building for storage. There was no active power to the structure or residents, according to a news release from Glasgow Fire.

Glasgow Police Major Terry Flatt said details remain unclear about the fire’s origin but arson is suspected. He said he had been briefed on the fire earlier Tuesday morning but was awaiting further details before more information would be released.

A large volume of smoke and flames was present when officials arrived at the scene. Fire was mostly coming from the front and side of the structure, according to a news release.

The fire was contained to the front side of the structure in a room. Eventually, the fire was extinguished.
