GLASGOW — The 29th Kiwanis Academic Bowl is slated for Nov. 21 at Glasgow High School.
The event will begin at 6 p.m., according to the Kiwanis Club of Glasgow. The annual event aids in fundraising efforts for the academic teams of Glasgow and Barren County high and middle schools. All proceeds will be shared with those teams.
Letitia Hughes, Barren County academic team coach, and Todd Garrison, Glasgow High academic team coach, will run this year’s bowl.
Teams are recruited from the community to compete in the academic bowl format similar to the one followed by the school teams during their competitions.
“We seek to recruit businesses and organizations to form teams and cultivate friendly rivalries in our community,” according to a news release from the Kiwanis Club of Glasgow. “It’s a fun and unique way to get their name out and support kids by providing funds for expenses such as equipment and competition fees.”
Entry fees are $100 per team. Businesses or individuals may also purchase sponsorships to benefit the local academic teams. Sponsors are recognized several times during the airing of the event.
The 2022 Kiwanis Club Academic Bowl will be carried on the airwaves of WCLU Radio at 103.1 FM and 1490 AM. It will also be aired on local television at the Glasgow EPB’s The Local Channel – 6.
