BOWLING GREEN — A Warren County man was arrested late Tuesday after police say he conspired to murder his wife.

Jeffrey A. Young, 51, faces one murder charge after a confidential informant described to police how he planned to hire them and later murder his wife. The informant provided two audio recordings to police from conversations with Young on Sept. 6 and 12, according to an arrest citation.

Police alleged Young described to the informant “how it could happen.” One of the ideas he had included taking his wife “to a trashy bar, get her drunk, and someone could come and start an altercation with her.”

“They could then shoot her and take off,” the citation said.

Young apparently planned to create a false image of their relationship days before the murder. He told the informant he needed time to ensure “no one would be suspicious of him because they do fight a lot.” He said he wanted her death to appear as an accident.

He also proposed a staged robbery where she works, the informant alleged. Young said he visited the place last weekend in search of security cameras but found none. He had also given the informant $400 to get new tires on a suspected get-away vehicle.

The confidential informant told police she was “confident” that Young wanted his wife killed – not injured or even scared.

Young was arrested and taken to the Bowling Green Police Department for an interview. He did not speak with police other than issuing a denial that he was ever at the informant’s home – though police allegedly took photographs of him leaving the house earlier in the day.

He remains lodged at the Warren County Regional Jail. No bond was issued, according to jail records.
