GLASGOW — A political event will close a portion of Glasgow’s downtown area Tuesday. The closure begins at noon.
The closure is expected to last through 8 p.m. along the north side of the Square. The event is a political kickoff for Kelly G. Craft, a Glasgow native running for Kentucky governor in 2023.
Craft hails from Glasgow, though she has lived in Lexington in recent years. She most recently served as ambassador to the United Nations under former President Donald J. Trump. Craft is expected to kickoff her campaign in Glasgow Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m.
Craft became the fifth Republican to announce their bid in next year’s governor’s race. The others include current Attorney General Daniel Cameron, state Rep. Savannah Maddox, State Auditor Mike Harmon and state Agriculture Commissioner Ryan Quarles. Democrat Andy Beshear is expected to seek another term.
Authorities said the closure will impact the north side only. Use caution in the area.
