GLASGOW — Authorities are investigating after a suspected road rage incident involving shots fired this morning.

Police confirmed the incident was isolated. Apparently, an occupant inside a vehicle shot at another vehicle while traveling in the area of Columbia Avenue and Veterans Outer Loop. A suspect was not in custody as of 10: 30 a.m. Thursday.

The incident’s origin began within the county limits before the vehicles traveled into the city.

Terry Flatt, public information officer with Glasgow Police, said officers responded to a home along Humble Avenue to investigate a sighting of the suspected vehicle in the incident. There was a large police presence in the area but police have since cleared the area. The vehicle along Humble Avenue was not connected to the incident.

“The community is not in a direct threat,” Flatt said. “We believe this was an isolated road rage incident.”

Glasgow Independent Schools was notified of the incident as a precaution. Students are safe and continuing their school day with instruction.

“We notified administrators at all three schools just to let them know to not let students out of the buildings,” said Tara Martin, supervisor of instruction with Glasgow Independent Schools. “This incident was not school-related.”

The Barren County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
