The search for a new director of the Barren County Family YMCA will begin shortly. Present executive director and chief executive officer Tara Bailey is leaving to take a position with Northeast Family YMCA of Greater Louisville.
Bailey’s final day at the Barren County Y is expected to be Dec. 3, according to a press release from the local YMCA. She has been CEO and executive director at the Barren Y since 2018. She has working with the YMCA organization for more than 33 years.
“It has been an incredible privilege to serve the Barren County community and work alongside such dedicated staff, volunteers, and board members,” Bailey said. “I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished together. While I look forward to this new opportunity, Barren County and this YMCA will always hold a special place in my heart.”
According to the release, during her tenure, the Barren County Family YMCA has made significant investments in facility improvements, expanded youth development and wellness programs, strengthened community partnerships, and continued its commitment to making YMCA services accessible to individuals and families throughout the community.
The YMCA Board of Directors will oversee the leadership transition, with support from the Kentucky/West Virginia YMCA State Alliance, the release stated.
“The Board of Directors is committed to ensuring continuity of leadership and services while preparing the organization for its next chapter,” said Board President Brandon Judd.
The local YMCA was founded in 1992. It is a nonprofit organization that provides programs for children through senior citizens.
