Joe “Chad” Gossett, Park City

Oct 9, 2026 | 1:57 PM

Joe “Chad” Gossett, age 55, of Park City, KY, tragically departed this life on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following a motorcycle accident in Sweetwater, TN. A native of Barren County, he was born on February 26, 1971, to Judy Parker Gossett and the late Willie Joe Gossett. His unexpected passing leaves a profound emptiness in the hearts of those who loved him.

Chad proudly dedicated a portion of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, Army National Guard, and United States Navy. Throughout his military career, he served during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, answering the call to serve with courage and commitment. His years in uniform were an important part of his life and a reflection of his dedication to something greater than himself. Following his military service, Chad continued to make a difference in the lives of others through the multiple roles he fulfilled within the Barren County School District. He had the opportunity to connect with students and share the knowledge and life experiences he had gained throughout his own journey. He was a member of Highland United Methodist Church and attended Immanuel Baptist Church. He was also a proud member of H.B. Grant Masonic Lodge #610 F&AM.

Above all, Chad was a man who loved deeply and wholeheartedly. He was loved by everyone who knew him, and he returned that love in a big way. Family meant everything to him, and his natural instinct was to protect and care for those he loved. Whether spending time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, or putting his handyman skills to work, Chad had a way of making himself a part of the lives around him. His generous heart, protective nature, and the love he gave so freely will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He leaves to cherish his memory— his children, Chandler Gossett of Cave City and Jocelyn Gossett (Ivory) of Glasgow; his beloved granddaughters, Elliana and Vayda Gossett; his mother, Judy Gossett of Park City; his sisters, Michelle Carter (Gloria) and Nicki Perkins (Bubby); his nieces, Mikayla Storms (Jacob), Breanna Johnson (Ty), Briana Perkins, and Bailey Pennington (Jayden), along with several aunts, uncles, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and dear friends whose lives were made better by knowing him. He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Joe Gossett, and his grandparents, Alvie and Hattie Gossett and Ben and Florence Parker.

A military graveside service will be conducted by the Barren County DAV at Evergreen Cemetery, honoring Chad’s service and sacrifice to his country.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Wounded Warrior Project.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2026, at Patton Funeral Home Cave City Chapel. Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
