A body found in a Cave City field has been officially identified as missing resident John Adwell, according to an autopsy performed by the Office of the Medical Examiner.
Adwell had been missing since he was last confirmed seen on Sept. 2.
Police said video from around 9 p.m. on Sept. 2 showed Adwell in the far background near Gillenwater Street and First Street.
Adwell’s body was found by farmers harvesting corn around 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in a field near the intersection of White Street and Gillenwater Street in Cave City.
Cave City Police Chief Paul Reynolds said Friday there were no signs of trauma seen during the preliminary autopsy. Reynolds also said there is no criminal investigation at this point.
Barren County Coroner Tim Gibson said there is no determination on the cause of death as of now. He said the full autopsy will take weeks to get back.
According to the state medical examiner’s website, “Central to the role of the office is the performance of the forensic autopsy, to aid in the determination of cause and manner of death of individuals, and identification of the deceased.”
