One man is dead and two people are injured after what Kentucky State Police describe as a serious two-vehicle crash on 31-E, Scottsville Road in Barren County.
Troopers at Post 3 in Bowling Green say they were notified just after 7 a.m. by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office about a possible fatal collision on U.S. 31-E near Old Scottsville Loop Third Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a black 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 18-year-old Brock Lykins of Glasgow was headed north on 31-E when he lost control of the truck.
KSP says the pickup crossed the centerline and collided with a red 2006 Pontiac G6 driven by 40-year-old Martin Hernandez.
State police say Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
A passenger in Hernandez’s vehicle, 21-year-old Adrick Ward of Glasgow, was airlifted from the scene and taken to TriStar Skyline Medical Center.
According to investigators, Lykins was taken to T.J. Samson Community Hospital to be treated for his injuries.
KSP says Trooper Grant Robertson is leading the ongoing investigation into the crash.
Officials say he was assisted at the scene by the Barren County Sheriff’s Office, Barren County EMS and other Kentucky State Police personnel.
