The Barren County Family YMCA celebrated the opening of its new Senior Wing with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring Gov. Andy Beshear.
Beshear and other area elected officials were on hand for the official unveiling of the new section of the YMCA in Glasgow that specializes in programs for area senior citizens.
The new Senior Wing is designed as a dedicated space for senior wellness and fitness activities, congregate meals, educational opportunities and social engagement. The space is open to seniors throughout the community and is not limited to YMCA members.
The project was made possible by $750,000 in federal Community Development Block Grant funding through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
