RECAP: Barren rolls over Metcalfe, 43-6

The Barren County Trojans improved to 2-1 overall with a 43-6 win over Metcalfe County at home Friday night.

Barren jumped ahead early with a 21 yard touchdown pass from Briggs Harris to Jackson Stephano. Jacob Dooley added the extra point kick with 10:22 left in the first quarter.

The Trojans added two more touchdowns in the first quarter. The first on a 3-yard run by Jaxon Pierce and the second on a 3-yard run by Corbin Wells. Dooley added both kicks for a 21-0 lead.

Barren pushed its lead to 35-0 by halftime. The first score was on a 13-yard pass from Briggs Harris to Cameron Gutierrez, and the second was a 36 yard touchdown pass to Stephano. Two more Dooley kicks gave the Trojans a 35-0 lead by halftime.

Metcalfe County scored its lone touchdown early in the fourth quarter.

The Trojans closed their scoring with a 3-yard run by Parker Conover. Cooper Carnes ran in the two-point conversion.

The second half was played with a running clock.

Barren County racked up 319 total yards of offense and held Metcalfe County to 125.

Briggs Harris was 10 of 14 passing for 161 yards and three touchdowns.

Stephano caught three passes for 58 yards, while Weston Shelton caught three passes for 33 yards, and Oliver Givens caught one pass for 30 yards.

Wells led the Trojans on the ground with 50 yards, while Jordan Harris rushed for 23 yards, and Carnes finished with 22 yards.

Barren County hosts Monroe County next Friday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m.
