The 2026 Glasgow Christmas Parade will honor both the holiday season and a major national milestone under a newly announced theme: “Stars, Stripes & Silent Nights.”

Barren Inc., the Barren County Chamber of Commerce, and Grand Marshal sponsor Phillips Family Grocery & Butcher Shop partnered to unveil the theme during a press conference on Tuesday.

The annual Glasgow Christmas Parade is the largest nighttime parade in Kentucky.

The new theme is designed to celebrate America 250: Freedom, Family & Community, as the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding.

According to Barren Inc., the parade will blend the magic of Christmas with pride in the nation’s history, highlighting courage, sacrifice, freedom and opportunity.

The focus also extends to local families, hometown heroes and community members who organizers say continue to carry the American spirit forward in Barren County.

Parade participants are encouraged to bring the theme to life through creative floats, costumes, music and decorations.

Ideas include classic Americana, key moments in American history, military service, national landmarks, hometown traditions and the enduring symbols of liberty.

Organizers say displays might range from red, white and blue Christmas scenes to tributes honoring veterans and active-duty service members.

They also invite entries that showcase what freedom, family and community mean to local residents, small businesses, farms, schools and industries.

Barren Inc. notes that the American Dream remains visible in Barren County through neighbors who work every day to build a stronger community and brighter future.

Applications to participate in the parade will be available starting Oct. 1.

Completed float applications must be submitted by Nov. 20 at 4 p.m.

Groups that register by Oct. 30 will receive an early-bird rate of $25 per float, with the fee increasing to $50 per float after that date.

The Glasgow Christmas Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 5, 2026, at 6 p.m. in downtown Glasgow.

Residents are encouraged to mark their calendars, gather family and friends and prepare for an evening organizers say will celebrate 250 years of American courage, resilience, opportunity and freedom.

The event aims to honor the past, celebrate the present and look to the future beneath the glow of “Stars, Stripes & Silent Nights.”
