A pair of McDonald’s employees in Glasgow will be celebrated with a graduation ceremony.
South Central Kentucky McDonald’s owner and operator Tom Burrell will celebrate two Glasgow McDonald’s employees who took advantage of opportunities to food chain offers, according to a press release.
Isabella Lopez graduated from Western Kentucky University using the Archways to Opportunity program, which gives restaurant employees an opportunity to grow and learn, no matter where they are on their journey, the release stated.
Through Archways to Opportunity, restaurant employees have the opportunity to learn English language skills, earn a high school diploma at no cost, pursue a college degree with the support of tuition assistance, and access free education and career advising services.
Rosario Gonzalez Zapata, also of Glasgow, completed the English Under the Arches program, which helps crew members improve their English skills while working at McDonald’s. McDonald’s covers tuition, and classes are designed for restaurant employees to focus on building confidence in speaking, listening, and understanding English in everyday situations.
The celebration will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. at 125 The Loop, Elizabethtown. There are other graduates not from Glasgow who are also being honored at the ceremony.
