Kentucky State Police say a 39-year-old man is facing new felony and misdemeanor counts after allegedly fleeing a June 29 traffic stop, crossing the state line into Tennessee, and later being arrested back in Allen County.

Troopers initiated a traffic stop on Benny Ray Sullivan in Allen County after they say he was speeding, according state police Post 3 information officer Katan Parker.

When troopers ran the license plate on Sullivan’s vehicle, they discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest. Sullivan then fled from the stop, left Allen County and crossed into Tennessee.

State police contacted the Tennessee Highway Patrol to alert them about the pursuit across the state line.

A few days later, Sullivan was later arrested in Allen County by Allen County sheriff’s deputies.

He was booked into the Allen County Jail on July 2, according to the jail website.

Sullivan is charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, a Class C felony, and first-degree wanton endangerment of a police officer, a Class D felony, Parker said. He also faces several misdemeanor traffic counts, including speeding more than 26 mph over the speed limit, failure to or improper signal, reckless driving and disregarding a stop sign.

At the time of this arrest, Sullivan was on probation after pleading guilty in April in a previous fleeing and evading case.

He has a court appearance set for Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. in Allen County, according to the jail website.
