Barren County Middle School Beta Club earns national honors in Nashville

Barren County Middle School Beta Club members are celebrating a successful trip to the National Junior Beta Convention in Nashville. School representatives say the students “showed up and slayed the day” at the multi-day event and made Barren County proud with their performances and leadership. The National Junior Beta Convention took place June 23 through 27 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee.

Barren County Middle School students earned several national titles and top finishes during the convention. The club captured first place in performing arts large group talent, showcasing the students’ abilities on a national stage. BCMS also won first place in the National Exhibition Meeting of the Minds and first place for a presidential campaign skit.

Students were recognized for academic achievement as well. Colton Hall placed second in eighth grade health and PE, and Kipper Todd earned eighth place in seventh grade science. In addition to competition results, school leaders highlighted important leadership roles secured by Barren County students. Sydney Byrd is serving as a National Junior Beta ambassador, representing the school and organization at the national level. Lily Key was elected National Junior Beta president, giving Barren County Middle School a key voice in the organization’s future.

Those involved with the trip said the success reflects a team effort among students, families and staff. They noted that it “truly takes a village” to support travel, preparation and competition at a national event and expressed pride in being part of the BCMS Trojan community.
