Barren County residents are being invited to help update the county’s long-term goals during a public meeting on the Barren County Strategic Plan. The Barren County Steering Committee and the Barren River Area Development District, or BRADD, will conduct the first public meeting focused on revising the goals and objectives of the county’s strategic plan. The meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 23, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the fairgrounds, located at 10168 Tompkinsville Road in Glasgow, Kentucky.
The session is intended to give residents a chance to share comments on the direction of the county’s strategic priorities, according to a flyer from Glasgow/Barren County Emergency Management. Residents of Barren County are encouraged to drop by at any point during the hour to offer their views and opinions. The event is described as a come-and-go meeting, meaning people can arrive and leave as their schedules allow rather than staying for a formal presentation.
Feedback gathered during this first public meeting will be used to help update the goals and objectives in the Barren County Strategic Plan, according to the flyer. The strategic plan serves as a guiding document for how the county sets priorities and plans for future needs, and officials say public input is a key part of that process. There is no formal agenda as this is just for the public to discuss what they would like to see in their community, according to Solid Waste director Marcus Thurman.
