Barren fiscal court to weigh opioid committee, ag expo board at June 2 meeting

Barren County’s legislative body will take up a full slate of business when the fiscal court meets for its first June session on Tuesday, June 2, at 9 a.m.

Fiscal court magistrates will be asked to approve payment of claims as presented, along with transfers of funds between county accounts, during the meeting on the second floor of the county government building off the Glasgow Public Square.

Beyond routine items, the fiscal court plans to consider a resolution acknowledging the presence of telecommunications facilities in the county’s rights-of-way.

Magistrates are also scheduled to weigh the establishment of an opioid committee, which would oversee the disbursement of opioid settlement funds.

Another proposal on the agenda would create an agriculture exposition board.

The court is set to review a lease with Wabuck Development Company.

Road department business on the agenda includes accepting bids for work or materials.

Financial items listed include invoices from Thomas Oil and Fuel totaling $14,273.91 and an invoice from U.S. Bank KY Pooled Checks for $43,630.00.
